SignRequest
SignRequest is an electronic signature tool that lets small businesses and teams send documents for signature from a browser, with a sealed audit trail on every signed copy.
Updated October 2026

Overview: What is SignRequest?
It has been owned by Box since 2021. A free plan covers 10 documents a month, and paid plans start at $9 per user per month on Professional (checked October 2026).
SignRequest was founded in Amsterdam, and Box bought it in 2021 for $55 million. Its technology also runs Box Sign, the e-signature feature inside Box. In a sales process it covers the last step: the order form or contract goes out, the buyer signs on any device without an account, and the signed PDF comes back sealed, so any later edit breaks the seal.
Fit: Ideal customer profile.
Small businesses, freelancers and small sales or HR teams that send contracts, order forms and agreements and want signing done cheaply, without a contract management suite. It's a weaker fit for teams that need deep CRM workflows or contract lifecycle features, or that plan a new API build, which one review says Box is steering to Box Sign.

Usage
How to use SignRequest.
Upload a PDF or Word file, place the signature and text fields, add signers and the order they sign in, then send. Reminders go out automatically, and a text message code can be required before signing. Templates save the setup for documents you send often. SignRequest connects natively to Google, Dropbox, Microsoft Flow and Slack, and Zapier links it to more than 2,000 other apps. The API and bulk send sit on the Business plan, with extra fees.
Cost
Pricing.
$9/ user/month
Prices are $9 or 9 euros and $15 or 15 euros per user per month, depending on your country (checked October 2026). Monthly plans can be canceled anytime; yearly plans run a full year. Bulk send costs $0.50 per document in bundles of at least 100, on Business only. Very high-volume senders need a document bundle under the fair use policy.

Questions
Frequently asked.
Who owns SignRequest?
Box, Inc. Box announced the deal in February 2021 for $55 million, and SignRequest's technology now also powers Box Sign. SignRequest is still sold as its own product.
How much does SignRequest cost?
The free plan covers 10 documents a month for one user. Professional is $9 and Business is $15 per user per month, with a 14-day free trial on both (checked October 2026).
Does SignRequest have an API?
Yes, on the Business plan, with additional fees. One independent review notes that Box is steering new API development to the Box Sign API, so check which one suits a new build.
What are SignRequest's limits?
It has fewer workflow and contract management features than larger suites, the free plan has no templates or teams, and bulk send costs extra per document.
What are the alternatives to SignRequest?
DocuSign, Dropbox Sign, SignNow and PandaDoc are the usual comparisons. DocuSign has more workflow and contract features, and Box customers already get Box Sign, which is built on SignRequest's technology.
