Overview: What is Stripe?

Standard pricing is 2.9% plus 30 cents per successful domestic card payment, with no setup or monthly fees (checked October 2026).

Stripe started as a payments API and now covers most of the money side of a B2B company: payment pages and links, recurring billing, invoices, usage-based billing through Metronome, sales tax, revenue recognition and reporting. In a revenue team it sits after the deal closes: the CRM records the sale, and Stripe collects the money, retries failed payments and holds the subscription record. Most products are priced as a percentage of volume, so costs grow with revenue.

Fit: Ideal customer profile.

Companies that sell online or on subscriptions and want payments, billing and invoicing on one developer-friendly platform, from a first payment link to custom enterprise pricing. Teams that sell mainly through large annual contracts paid by wire may use only Invoicing, and complex quote-to-cash processes usually need a CPQ or billing system on top.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How much does Stripe cost?

Card payments cost 2.9% plus 30 cents per successful domestic transaction in the US, with 1.5% more for international cards. Billing, Invoicing and Tax add their own fees, such as 0.7% of billing volume for Billing (checked October 2026).

Does Stripe integrate with HubSpot?

Yes. HubSpot can connect Stripe as its payment processor for quotes, invoices and payment links, and a HubSpot Data Sync app syncs contacts, products and invoices between the two.

Does Stripe work with Salesforce?

Stripe for Salesforce Platform is listed on AppExchange and gives Salesforce access to Stripe data and billing flows. Plan for some admin or developer setup.

What are Stripe's limits?

Fees are a percentage of volume, so costs climb as revenue grows, and the Billing, Tax and Invoicing fees stack on top of payment fees. Complex enterprise contracts with custom terms often need a CPQ or billing tool alongside it.

What are the alternatives to Stripe?

Chargebee and Recurly are the usual comparisons for subscription billing. Paddle acts as merchant of record and takes on sales tax, which Stripe now also offers through Managed Payments for 3.5% extra. Salesbricks handles B2B quoting before the bill.
