PublicWWW
PublicWWW is a source code search tool that finds every indexed website containing a given snippet of HTML, JavaScript or CSS, for marketers, researchers and teams building technographic lists.
Updated October 2026

Overview: What is PublicWWW?
The free account opens results from the top 3 million sites, and paid plans start at $109 a month for Pro (checked October 2026).
Search for a script tag, an analytics ID, a pixel or a WordPress theme path and you get the list of sites that carry it, sorted by popularity, with the matching code snippet. The homepage counter showed 974 million pages indexed on October 15, 2026. In a revenue system it's a list-building source: find every site running a competitor's script, then enrich those domains with contacts in another tool.
Fit: Ideal customer profile.
Teams that can describe their market by a piece of code: a SaaS company targeting sites that load a competitor's widget, an agency looking for a theme or tracking ID, or an analyst mapping related sites. It's not built for someone who wants contacts or company data out of the box.

Questions
Frequently asked.
How do I get a PublicWWW API key?
API access comes with a paid plan (Pro, Business or Enterprise). Free accounts can connect to the MCP server but their searches are refused, apart from reading the docs and price list.
Is PublicWWW free?
You can search for free, and results from the top 1 million sites show without an account. Registering opens the top 3 million. The rest of the index needs a paid plan.
What can you find with PublicWWW?
Sites sharing an analytics or ad account ID, sites loading a given script or widget, sites on a WordPress theme, or sites running a server version, all from the page source and headers.
What are PublicWWW's limits?
It only indexes pages a crawler can reach, so anything behind a login or CAPTCHA is missing, there's no published crawl schedule, and a search returns domains, not people.
What are the alternatives to PublicWWW?
BuiltWith and Wappalyzer sell lists of sites by detected technology, WhatCMS and WhatRuns check one site at a time, and TheirStack finds companies by technology and hiring signals from job posts.
